DESIGN - MANAGE - CONSTRUCT

OUR KITCHEN DESIGN PROCESS

STEP 1: CONSULTATION

Whether you book your consultation online, in our showroom, over the phone or by email, you’ll hear from one of our qualified kitchen designers within 24 hours to arrange a convenient in-home visit.

During the consultation, we take a deep dive into how you use your kitchen. We ask the right questions—who cooks, how you cook, which appliances are essential, how often you entertain, whether you shop daily or in bulk, and even if your pets' food needs a home in the pantry. No detail is too small because every detail matters.

By the end of this visit, we’ll have a comprehensive understanding of how your kitchen needs to function for your lifestyle—and how to tailor the design to meet those needs beautifully and efficiently.

We’ll then take precise measurements and photos of your kitchen and surrounding areas to ensure we capture the full potential of your space.

STEP 2: DESIGN & CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

Back at our studio, the creative work begins. Using your responses, photos, and design brief, we develop a personalised kitchen design that balances function, form, and flow.

Once we’re confident we’ve created something exceptional, we invite you into our showroom to walk through the design, recommended finishes and materials, and a detailed cost proposal.

You’ll be able to see how it all comes together—with visuals, expert explanations, and advice around design principles, practicality, and ergonomics.

STEP 3: APPROVAL & SELECTIONS

When you decide to partner with Bathrooms & Kitchens SA, we’ll schedule a final sign-off and full selection session at our showroom.

This is where we guide you through every material choice—flooring, cabinetry finishes, benchtops, splashbacks, lighting, handles, and feature elements. It’s a structured process designed to make your kitchen uniquely yours while staying true to your home’s character.

By the end of this session, you’ll be able to visualise your kitchen in full colour. We call this stage “putting the paint on the canvas”—the moment your dream kitchen becomes a clear picture.

STEP 4: MANUFACTURING & PROJECT PREPARATION

After a final check measure, we begin the manufacturing process, breaking the project down into detailed orders and plans.

Comprehensive final drawings are prepared, including cabinetry, plumbing, electrical, and all your chosen finishes—ensuring everything is crystal clear for our trades.

A dedicated project manager reviews the plans with our team of trusted professionals so everyone’s aligned and ready. Any items with longer lead times—such as custom joinery or stone benchtops—are ordered immediately to maintain momentum.

Once your start date is confirmed, the exciting transformation begins.

KITCHEN RENOVATION ADVICE

Planning a kitchen renovation is exciting—but the better prepared you are, the smoother the journey will be. Here’s how you can get the most out of your design consultation and ensure a stunning, functional result.

1. Do Your Homework

Before we meet, we recommend creating a renovation folder on your computer to help organise your ideas. Here's what to include:

Photos of What You Like

Collect images of kitchens or design elements that appeal to you. These might include cabinetry, benchtops, splashbacks, layouts, or lighting. Be sure to add notes to each image, highlighting exactly what you like—this helps us understand your personal taste and style direction.

Photos of What You Don’t Like

Equally important, share any images of styles or features that don’t appeal to you. Knowing what to avoid is just as valuable as knowing what you love—it allows us to better define your aesthetic and ensure the design aligns perfectly with your vision.

2. Create a Wishlist

A detailed wishlist ensures nothing gets missed during the design phase. Include everything from:

  • More usable bench space

  • A family-friendly bin system

  • Integrated or glass splashbacks

  • Extra storage for appliances

  • Specific lighting needs

The more you include, the more tailored your kitchen design will be.

3. Know Your Appliances

One of the first questions we’ll ask is what appliances you plan to include. You don’t need to purchase them beforehand, but knowing your preferred models, dimensions, or features (e.g. double oven, induction cooktop, integrated fridge) helps us design with precision and ensures everything fits perfectly.

4. Trust the Process

It’s easy to get overwhelmed by design decisions—but don’t worry, we’ve got you. Our consultation process is designed to uncover exactly what you need and want in a kitchen. We’ll ask the right questions to guide the design from functionality to finishes.

5. Leave the Design to the Experts

Designing functional, beautiful kitchens is what we do—every day. Our team brings years of experience and a toolbox full of clever design solutions and space-saving ideas. Let us do the heavy lifting while you enjoy the creative process and look forward to a result that exceeds expectations.

In Summary

  • Organise your ideas with images and notes

  • List out your must-haves and nice-to-haves

  • Be clear on your appliance preferences

  • Trust the questions we ask—they lead to smart, tailored design

  • Let us handle the layout and flow—we’re here to make it work perfectly for you

We’re excited to help you bring your dream kitchen to life—designed for how you live, cook, and entertain.
